Indonesia Coconut Shell Briquettes Charcoal Manufactory

Coconut shells or shells are often thrown away in traditional markets. In fact, coconut shells can be used as raw materials to be processed into charcoal. Coconut shell charcoal products as raw materials for semi-finished products can also be reprocessed into innovative charcoal products.
Coconut shell charcoal products (coconut shell briquette charcoal) can be produced according to market needs and become a leading export product. Processing of coconut shells into charcoal is done by burning. A pile of coconut shells is put in a drum. Then, the coconut shell is burned. After that, the coconut shells that have not been burned are added step by step into the drum.
This is done continuously until the drum is full of coconut shells. Once full, the drum is closed and the entire coconut shell in the drum undergoes a burning process. Gradually, the coconut shell will turn into charcoal. After being separated from the burning waste, coconut shell charcoal will become the raw material for innovative charcoal products that will be exported to the world market.
The burning of coconut shells is carried out by workers in OUR COMPANY. Unfortunately, the number of coconut shells—as the basic raw material—to be burned into charcoal is still very limited.

As a result, OUR COMPANY has to get supplies of coconut shell charcoal as raw material from suppliers from various regions, such as Riau Province and Riau Islands. OUR COMPANY requires 300-400 tons of shell charcoal per month as raw material for the production of innovative shell charcoal.
From shell charcoal, OUR COMPANY processes or further processes them into export-oriented charcoal products. Charcoal shell is formed and printed with a printing machine according to market needs. After being printed, the charcoal product still has to be heated in a heating machine. The production volume of OUR COMPANY’s shell charcoal currently reaches 300 tons per month.
For certain products, the charcoal product is also given chemicals. The function of these chemicals is only to be able to light a fire on the charcoal without having to use fuel, such as kerosene.
To control the quality of shell charcoal, OUR COMPANY also has several control tools. Before the product is shipped, the shell charcoal produced is also tested to see the quality, such as the length of time the charcoal burns.
Currently, coconut shell charcoal produced by OUR COMPANY has penetrated the world market. In Europe, OUR COMPANY’s shell charcoal penetrated France, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Austria, Italy, Germany, Sweden and Denmark.
In Asia, OUR COMPANY’s charcoal products penetrate the markets of Singapore, Japan and South Korea. In fact, OUR COMPANY is also working on the Middle East (Timteng) market, such as Lebanon and Syria.
Coconut Shell Briquettes Charcoal Market potential

The export market potential for shell charcoal products is still large. In Europe, shell charcoal is needed for grilling meat (barbecue).
In the Middle East, shell charcoal is mostly used for “smoking” or shisha. Meanwhile, in Asia, such as Japan and South Korea, shell charcoal is used for cooking purposes in restaurants.
Shell charcoal is considered to be easier to enter the world market, especially Europe. The product is easier to use. Quality is considered better than charcoal made from mangroves.
Shell charcoal products are also considered more environmentally friendly because they do not damage plants, such as mangroves. Moreover, the issue of global warming is very sensitive in Europe.
The President Director of Avava Group, which oversees OUR COMPANY, Tarman said, the shell charcoal produced by OUR COMPANY is usually renamed by the customer. However, the parties still require that the packaging still says “made in Indonesia”.
If it does not include “made in Indonesia”, OUR COMPANY will cancel the order. “Labels made in Indonesia must be included. That’s pride. Charcoal products can enter Europe and other countries,” said Tarman. Currently, OUR COMPANY is planning to expand production considering the increasing number of orders.
Tarman explained, the shell charcoal manufacturing industry that OUR COMPANY is currently running was originally an industry owned by an investor from South Korea in 2004. However, the industry was at a loss.
In 2009, Tarman continued, his party took over and continued the coconut shell charcoal business. Marketing continues. With a large export market opportunity, it means that the need for raw materials for coconut shells will be even greater. This opportunity should also be captured by small and medium businesses to take advantage of coconut shells.
Coconut shells can be used to make charcoal. Charcoal from coconut shells can also be used as raw material for medium-sized industries to be further processed into export-oriented charcoal products.
