Pumice Stone Supplier From Indonesia
Pumice Stone Benefits
Pumice is used more in the construction sector than in the industrial sector.
Benefits of Pumice in the Construction Sector
In the construction sector, pumice is widely used for the manufacture of lightweight aggregates and lightweight aggregates because it has very favorable characteristics; that is light and soundproof (high in-sulation). The specific weight of pumice of 650 kg/cm3 is comparable to that of ordinary brick weighing 1,800 – 2,000 kg/cm3. From pumice, it is easier to make large blocks, thereby reducing plastering. Another advantage of using pumice in the manufacture of aggregates is that it is resistant to fire, condensation, mildew and heat, and is suitable for acoustics.
Specifications of pumice in the manufacture of aggregates and lightweight aggregate concrete are as follows:
- Light aggregate (BS 3797, 1964):
- SO3 : max. 1%
- LOI (loss on ignition): max. 4% Bulk weight:
- Coarse details: max. 0.96 ton/m3
- Fine grain : max. 1.20 ton/m3
- Lightweight aggregate concrete (BS 2028, 1364, 1968)
- Soundproof (3 inch block): 44.3 db.
- Dry fill weight : 0.88 ton/m3
- Calorific value: 1.0 cal
- Fire resistance: up to 6 hours
- Dry shrinkage (drying shrinkage): 0.04%
- Grain size: 1 – 9 cm
In addition to the above mentioned uses, in the construction sector, pumice is used for road foundations, acoustic tile raw materials, fire-resistant materials and others.
Benefits of Pumice in the Industrial Sector
In the industrial sector, pumice is used as a filler, polishing, cleaner, stonewashing, abrasive, high temperature insulator and others. The user industry, function, and degree of pumice grain size can be seen in Table 1.

The composition of the material for this pottery consists of pumice, clay, and lime in a ratio of 35%, 60% and 5%, respectively. The use of this pumice stone, intended to reduce weight and improve the quality of pottery.
Besides in the construction and industrial sectors, pumice is also used in the agricultural sector, namely as an addictive material and as a substitute for agricultural land.
